Bugaboo
Bugaboo Design & Sales BV began in Amsterdam, Netherlands by Max Barenbrug and Eduard Zanen.
Max Barenbruga was a student at the Design Academy in Eindhoven. In 1994 as part of his graduation project, he developed a multi-functional stroller that received high acclaim. His brother-in-law, Eduard Zanen was a certified medical doctor who advised on the ergonomic aspects of the stroller and together the two worked to market the stroller internationally.
They did not have any success with the original stroller however after a dramatic redesign the first Bugaboo was born.
Max and Eduard invested in their own manufacturing company in Taiwan. This enabled them to control the design and production of the product.
The 'Frog' was received with great enthusiasm around the world and won several awards. The company has recently released two new strollers -the Gecko and Cameleon.
