Manufacturers description

A full-sized pushchair that folds so small it can be carried on a bicycle or in a car's passenger footwell has been launched.

The new Quinny Zapp has re-invented foldability. It measures 69cm (just over 2 feet) in length when folded - making it the world's most compact fold - and is also extremely lightweight, weighing just 6 kilos.

The Quinny Zapp becomes a full-sized stroller when opened and it's also big on practicality. It converts into a travel system for use from birth by clipping on a Maxi-Cosi car seat, and also has a sun canopy and rain cover. Once folded, the whole buggy is so tiny that it fits into its own co ordinated duffle bag.

Strikingly stylish, the Zapp will be a head-turner, whilst suspension on all three wheels ensures that this is a comfortable buggy to push, and to ride in. Quick and easy to fold and unfold, manoeuvrable and robust, it's perfect for the school run, shopping trips, and days out.

The Quinny Zapp comes from the same stable as the highly-successful Quinny Freestyle 3, the award-winning three-wheel all-terrain stroller.

Small, light to push/carry, ideal travel companion

Reviewed by: Amanda Kaye from South East England, UK, Apr 30, 2008

General Review

I have had about 10 prams and pushchairs since my DS was born almost 3 years ago. I have a Zapp at the moment and also had one when DS was about 10 months old. I liked it very much the first time round, but because he looked uncomfortable asleep (no recline) I decided to get something else, was going to hold onto it for travelling but needed the money so sold it... then recently I bought another one from Mothercare, it's the capri colour, and it's lovely! The great thing for me is the fact that it's so easy to push even with a heavier child, I walk everywhere and my DS can walk but gets tired and then rides... I suffer from back problems so the fact this pushchair only weighs 6kg is a big bonus, it's also easy to handle when folded although it could do with a clip or some method of keeping it together when folded. I believe folding issues are a Quinny problem as is storage... all the manufacturers should get their heads together, they'd maybe create the perfect pushchair!!! (I wish). The Zapp folds very small, has a storage bag, ideal for holidays etc. It is so light you could probably take it on the plane and store it in the on-board cupboard although check with the airline first.
The raincover is not that good, it's a bad fit and fiddly to attach. Also for a much older baby or toddler the foot well is not deep enough for them to keep their feet on so they just dangle down below the rain cover. Annoying, especially if it's raining heavily! The folding mechanism is not difficult, just gets quicker the more you do it, the pushchair has little numbered stickers on it to help you remember which buttons to press in what order. It is important to read the instructions! Also don't try to put too much shopping on this pushchair because it is not designed to take the weight of a toddler and lots of bags... the best shopping accessory in my opinion is the black polyester basket style bags sold on Ebay - they fit under the seat and don't affect folding so can stay in position. You can get a fair amount of stuff in these bags. I had one with my first Zapp and with this one I got the kind that hangs behind the seat. I like that I don't have to bend down to get my shopping in it.
The fabric is easy to clean but be aware you cannot take the seat fabric off to wash it so best to use a buggy liner. I used a coseytoes in the colder weather and my DS looked really comfortable.
The hood is ok, gives some protection from the elements, in the summer you would probably still need another form of protection from the sun like an umbrella.
I have a sunshade that is similar in size to raincovers and it covers the child completely, but they can still see out, it helps keep them cool and they can also take a nap!
I must mention two things, though. The first is that when you go up a curb, approach it straight because I almost tipped mine over as I cought a bit of curb that was all different heights. I always do my DS's harness up and it's a good job i did! The other thing is don't be tempted to hang shopping from the handlebars or the frame. it won't take the weight and it will tip over!
My Zapp was purchased from Mothercare and thankfully is under warranty, I recently discovered a fault (the strap that holds the bottom of the seat unit to the frame is cracked) and Mothercare were great, they have dealt with everything and I have a Maclaren on loan. It just makes me so glad I got a Zapp, Maclaren only to to 15kg (my ds weighs that now and he isn't 3 yet) and they are so so heavy to push! Rubbish Rubbish Rubbish. Would never ever waste my money on one.

Pros

Great styling, easy to clean fabric
Small and very light to carry, amazingly light to push and easy to steer (even with a toddler in it), can push one-handed
Sturdy 5-point harness

Cons

No height adjustable handles
Can tip on curbs if you are not careful (all three wheelers will!)
Takes a bit of practice to learn how to fold and un-fold but a breeze once you have that hang of it.
Back wheels quite wide apart (not as bad as a mutsy spider, though)
A bit on the noisy side
No reclining seat
No storage - unless you want to buy separately!
Accessories quite pricey

'Best Smallest Buggy Yet!!'

Reviewed by: H Wilkinson from Merseyside, Jul 04, 2006

General Review

I have had 100+ prams and my baby is only 11mths. I am a bad pramaholic.
I have had the Quinny Buzz (3 times in different colours!) and the Zapp (3 times also) I prefer the Zapp because of the size etc.
It is very small when folded but like most other Mums it is tricky to fold. I love the harness on it as it is very padded and looks quite trendy really!
I must say it would be perfect if they came with a basket, I know you can buy these seperately but do cost a bit. I think my son enjoys sitting in the Zapp as it has a nice straight position seat and is very open for him to see all.

Pros

Small folding
Compactness
Choice of colours!
Availability

Cons

No seat recline
No basket
Tricky folding mechanism

Hard to pin down !!!

Reviewed by: sarah from Wales, May 16, 2006

General Review

I bought a zapp because it is, as stated, the smallest buggy available to date. Fantastic for my Suzuki Swift boot. The only problem with it I find is it is really hard to use on your own. The folding action is ingenious but tricky until mastered. Not for the person who hates being rushed out of a parking space. The suspension is awful and makes for a bumpy ride on tarmac/concrete surfaces.
Does turn heads and gets comments off silvercross owners !!
Have had trouble contacting both supplier and retailer regarding repairs - a nightmare actually. DO NOT BUY FROM GERMANY unless in Germany. No-one wants to take responsibility for returns.

Pros

Small and manouverable
chic and classy
mid-priced
Nice girl at Dorel who will try hard on your behalf with overseas retailers

Cons

bumpy
hard to fold single-handedly
Dorel are hard to contact via phone

A zippy spaceage ship for baby!

Reviewed by: Suzi Q from Sydney Australia, Sep 19, 2005

General Review

This stroller is such an amazing piece of engineering. It handles like a space ship, especially on smooth surfaces in shopping centres.

Both my Dad and husband fought to have control over this beauty. They zipped it around like an F1 motor car! It turns on a sixpence, with one hand so easily.

My only reservation is that when I bought it when my son was 6 and a half months, my son was just a bit too little for it yet. Now at over seven months, he still looks a bit little in it. He's a strong baby in the upper weight charts for his age so I wouldn't put a 6 month old who didn't have good neck/head control in it. I imagine that in the next 3 months or so, he will grow into it more.

It could definitely do with a recline feature. Apparently Quinny are working on such a model, according to a sales rep from a well-known baby store in NSW.

I just love this stroller with its head-turning looks and fabulous fold mechanism. It really is a joy to use. Apart from some minor cons, I'd thoroughly recommend it! Can't wait to take it travelling to NZ next year!

Pros

* Beautiful quality engineering
* Steers like a dream
* Men love it (it won't take much to convince him you need it!)
* Is a head-turner
* No extras to buy - comes with storm cover and storage/travel bag.
* Great for travelling - smallest folde

Cons

* Best for babies a bit older than 6 months, despite the recommendation.
* Click-clacks along the pavements.
* No storage.
* Backrest doesn't recline.

Wonderful Compact Stroller

Reviewed by: Gingernut from New Zealand, Sep 06, 2005

General Review

The Quinny Zapp has to be my favourite stroller out of all the ones I have ever owned and used!

I had to order it from overseas as they aren't available where we live and I was reluctant to buy it having never seen it "in the flesh". I took a risk and bought one and have never regretted it.

I ordered the black Zapp and it came with a great storage bag with handle and adapters for a Maxi Cosi carseat. The instructions were easy to follow and it assembled in minutes. It also comes with a rain cover.

I was initially concerned about how complicated it would be to fold but my fears were unfounded as it is super easy to fold and takes only seconds when you are used to it. You do need both hands though and I wouldn't be able to do it while still holding our baby.

The fabrics and frame are really great quality in my opinion and it is a very stylish looking stroller. The wheels are a good size and much wider than the wheels on my Maclaren. They do make a ghastly noise when going over cobbled areas but for malls and regular street use they are fine.

The steering on the Zapp is second to none. You can steer it with one hand easily and with the front swivel wheel it is fabulous in tight spaces (though the wheel base is possibly a tad wider than regular umbrella strollers).

It has a very good harness (a little more fiddly than some strollers) with padded strap protecters. The seat is roomy and very upright so your baby/toddler will get a good view in this stroller. Unfortunately it doesn't recline but our baby NEVER sleeps in any stroller so this isn't an issue for us but it may be for others. Our baby was a bit older too (11 months) when we got the Zapp so we didn;t need the recline feature as much.

The Zapp is quite heavy but this makes it feel sturdier than a lot of other lightweight strollers. I have jammed my fingers a couple of times when trying to fold it so be careful!

This stroller folds amazingly small and often we store it in the footwell of our back seat. This is the feature I love most about it. You can take it on board planes and it is an ideal travel stroller. It has a good size sun canopy also.

One of the only downsides of the Zapp that we have found is the lack of storage...none. I sling my handbag (it isn't very heavy) over the handles but anything more and it is likely to tip. I am happy to forego the storage though as the rest of the features of the Zapp more than compensate in my opinions.

This is the stroller I use most often when out with my daughter, it's used virtually every single day.

Pros

*Compact and tiny when folded
*Quality design and materials
*Super light steering
*Looks good!
*Lots of colour options
*Upright seat which gives baby a great view

Cons

*Quite heavy
*No storage
*The noise made from the wheels when in slightly rougher terrain
