overall great pram with a few adjustments needed

General Review

We bought the pram back in 2009 for our first child. We planned on having more children fairly close together so opted for the double and peanut bassinet. Don't regret the decision because I have a large family who have bought and tested soooooo many prams and the phil & teds were ranked the best.
Yes it is a little big but where else can you find a pram that accommodates 2 children so they are sitting comfortably? If anyone knows please let me know, i'm interested. I use the pram a lot cause having 2 little bubs under 2 and doing the groceries or going for walks is a challenge but this meets my basic needs and more. Its easy to handle since i always end up having to carry the eldest child and steer the pram with one hand. The only problem would be the front wheel it tends to swivel and lock up. I've had a few incidences where the front wheel has swivelled into a horizontal position and the pram back wheels have picked up. I'm just more careful when going up kerbs, etc and little tech that you pick up along the way. Thats why im looking into the verve due to its 2 wheels at the front, easier to manoeuvre and more stability.
The toddler seat is small and the recline is a joke. There is a metal frame that goes around the top so even in recline mode, if your child head goes past the frame it will be very uncomfortable. My 10mnt is fine for now but when my 2yr sits in it its never in recline.
I love this pram because its soooo easy to mix and match seat position to suit your childrens needs ie. sleeping, awake, mellowing...there has been sooo many times when my 2yr falls asleep so i fully recline her seat and move my 10mnt (in his doube kit) to the top so he gets a better view.
I know a lot of people complain about the brakes being so sudden but i'd rather sudden brakes and give my kids sudden padded whip lash than have them hit by a car or roll onto the train tracks at a station. I see it more as a safety issue. Personally never had any issues with accidentally bumping the button apart from my 2yr playing with it due to its attractive red colour and playing god with the pram.
The recline mechanism for the main seat is a bit tricky if the child is already sitting in and you have to recline the seat up but very easy to recline and you can adjust it to any height. The seat does sometimes go on a slant but easily fixed.
Love the sun hood. Its adjustable so can block out sun from many positions. the toddler needs one but they have those with the new vibe 2.
Its sooo easy to clean cause im on the go the kids snack and eat in the pram which gets a bit messy but i can just wash everything.
Frame gets easily scratched but nothing stays in pristine condition forever (i wish they did though).
Storage is a bit small and hard to access if you have toddler seat at the bottom.
Folding takes embarrassing (i cant get this darn thing to fold!! wish i could just chuck it in the car!!!) practice but once you get the hang of it, its second nature.
Other than that the vibe has really served its purpose and i wouldnt go elsewhere other than newer improved models. Its saved me so many times and so versatile i love phil & ted.

Pros

compact for 2 children
easy to steer
easy to clean
comfortable for the children to sleep & sit in
stylish
versitle; pram for 2, nappy change bed, shopping/storage trolley
good brake system

Cons

a bit on the big side
toddler seat to small, recline not suitable for tall infants or toddlers
front wheel swivels & pivots
small storage basket
handle bars slightly odd oval shape
a bit heavy

Love it! Practical, comfortable and super stylish!

General Review

We bought this buggy to accomodate our new baby and almost 3 year old in mid-2009, and have never regretted it. It is extremely nice to push (it glides). The deep adjustable hammock-style seat is great - giving the newborn in lie-flat position more room than with other P&T buggies, and later allows plenty of room for an older, taller child (up to 5 years). We used the coccoon for our newborn til 4 months, which was great for our winter-baby. The seat pads are super comfortable, cool in summer and warm in winter. The buggy is very easy to fold, and it folds up quite compactly, taking up about 2/3 the space of our Mountain Buggy (which we love too!). It's easy to attach and detach the toddler seat (more so than with the steel models), The slide-adjust harness is fabulous when you need to swap baby and toddler arrangements around quickly. It's lightweight but very stable and can withstand the Wellington gales! The storm and sun covers fit well, both single and double, and are easy to use too. The push-button break on the handle is nice and easy to use. We did intially have a problem with the front wheel 'sticking', especially in hot weather when both kids were on-board, but had the front nose and J-bar replaced by the P&T service team in Wellington free-of-charge, firstly with later 2009 model parts, which were trouble-free for about 9 months, then again we opted to have new 'vibe 2' parts earlier this year and have had no further issues with it since. This problem has not been a huge inconvenience to us, as the service team in Wellington are so close, and super friendly and efficient people. All-in-all the vibe is a very practical and easy to use buggy, it handles amazingly well, it's a pleasure to push, and it looks fantastic!

Pros

Too many to list!!
If you want a buggy that can adapt with your growing family, that's practical, very easy to use, stylish, super-comfy for the baby and growing child, and as great to push as a Mountain Buggy, you want the P&T vibe!

Cons

Any early 2009 models bought second-hand should be investigated for front-wheel issues. It should not be a problem if you live near a P&T service centre, but if not, get a later model vibe or a vibe v2 (2011 model).

REALLY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS BUGGY. THIS BUGGY IS MARKETED AS BEING A 'ROLLS ROYCE' MODEL BUT THESE BUGGIES SHOULD NOT BE ON THE MARKET AS THEY ARE UNSAFE.WE HAD TO SEND OURS BACK BECAUSE OF FRONT WHEEL 'DEATH WOBBLE' - REPLACEMENT MODEL HAD TO BE SENT BACK WITH SAME PROBLEM. FRONT WHEEL ALSO STICKS/LOCKS - LEADING TO POTENTIAL ACCICENTS CROSSING ROADS ETC. WE REPLACED WITH A BRITAX B-DUAL WHICH IS FAR SUPERIOR IN EVERY WAY.

Pros

GOOD TO LOOK AT

Cons

FRONT WHEEL DEATH WOBBLE. BABIES GET SHOOK ABOUT DUE TO THIS. FRONT WHEEL ALSO LOCKS UNEXPECTEDLY

Don't waste you $$$!

General Review

A very sexy looking pram which really disapooints. I spent a lot of time aquiring a full refund for this pram. The retailer (babybears.com.au) refused to give me a refund even though the product was faulty, which is against the law! She made me get my replacement pram through her so she could keep her profit.
However, as soon as I saw this pram I wanted one. It looks so sexy and smart, but had problems as soon as I took it out of the box. It 'drove' like it needed a wheel alignment. Continuously pulling to the right. The front wheel literally 'jiggled' around in the socket. I had it sent back to Phil and Teds for service, however it came back the same and they scratched it.
This pram is a beautiful waste of money.

Pros

- easy to clean fabric
- adjustable shade
- easy to fold
- looks great
- easy to operate harness
- easy to engage brake
- takes 2 easily

Cons

- front wheel was 'ovalish' as soon as I got it out of the box
- wheel bearing/brusing at front had a wobble straight away
- TOO easy to engage brake. Parent runs into the pram, and baby gets whiplash!
- seat position doesn't allow baby to sit by self at all
- takes a while to recline/sit upright
- steering pulled to the right
- shoulder straps were quite low even at the highest positioning
- back(upright) part of the front seat is only held in place by 1 adjusting strap, and when pressure is applied results in bad posture for baby's back.
- easy to scratch/mark the aluminium frame

General Review

I brought this pram coz i loved the stylish look and it would suit my purposes... however i absoutely hated it.

Pros

stylish
can take two kids
the brakes on the handlebar

Cons

many of them have front wheel wobbles
the main seat is very flimsy and takes way too long to adjust from reclined to sitting up
i couldn't get mine to fold with the toddler seat on underneath
it folds with the seats outwards therefore they will get damaged unlike the sports and dash
too heavy - i couldn't lift it
takes a few practices to collapse without it running away on you (plus the frame gets scratched each time
waste of money

Great stroller even in the Winter

Reviewed by: DadOnWheels from Canada, Jan 24, 2010

General Review

Our kids love the stroller. People wonder if the kid in the lower seat feels shafted but our toddler loves it because he can climb in and out himself. Very sturdy and well put together. Feels like it will last forever. Wish we bought it sooner.

Pros

High quality material, sharp looks, one of the few double strollers that would fit into the trunk of my sports sedan.

Cons

The brake is really sensitive. Have on more than one occassion locked up the wheels by accident -- probably needs adjustment. Not a lightweight stroller.
