Great Pram, rethink Toddler Seat

Reviewed by: Donna from South West Sydney, Apr 26, 2007

General Review

After my Pram broke we had to find another in a hurry. Phil and Teds is one I have always wanted. After having to fix a squeak in the wheel, I find it a great Pram for walking with. Very light and easy to steer. However, I don't find that the safety harness on the toddler seat is very safe. My toddler can unclip it and with no bar on the seat he can and has easily fallen out. This is a concern for me and worry for his safety.

Pros

* Nice and narrow. Can fit down most isles.
* Easy to steer
* Love how the hood goe's over the toddler in baby/toddler mode
* Like the idea of a double rain cover and mesh

Cons

* Buying the extras seperately gets expensive with an already expensive buggy.
* Safety harness in toddler seat needs to be rethought
* Basket hard to get too
* The buggy and having to buy the extras seperately is expensive

General Review

I have had this pram for 3 years and now have 2 children. It has taken quite a beating. We have taken it bush walking, to the beach, shopping etc.. It has performed well.

I have had to replace all of the wheel tubes very early on as the valve came loose creating a whole in 2 of 3 wheels. The bearings went in the front wheel but this was reapired free of charge even out of warranty. Great for use with two children. When second baby gets older they can grab the back wheels so I started putting him in the front and the toddler would pop in and out of the back as he wanted. The instructions say that hte heaviest child should go in the front but the pram still felt stable with the kids the other way around. I just never left the pram free standing with them both in it, just in case. I have had the toddler get out of the front, leaving the smaller child in the back and have the pram fall backwards when another child touched the pram. Recommended.

Pros

Great offroad!
Great after sales support and service
flexible use with 1 or 2 children of varying ages
light weight

Cons

poor quality tyre tubes
doesn't come with a pump
doesn't come with shades/rain cover

LOVELY RIDE

Reviewed by: Mel from Toowoomba, Feb 06, 2006

General Review

The Phil & Teds E3 is a smooth ride for baby - we have had one since DDs birth, and she loves it! She falls asleep easily in it - we sometimes use it as a last resort when we cant get her down!

A little bumpy over grassy terrain - we are experimenting with tyre pressure and locking the wheel.

A good looking buggy with all the right accessories... Although, it gets cold up here so a boot cover would be good.

Pros

-Lightweight
-Attractive
-Great steering
-Brakes are fantastic
-Seems comfy for bub

Cons

-difficult to change seat position with baby in buggy (only from baby to toddler positions)
-Sunvisor doesnt provide much protection - The shade screen is great though

Great option for two, not so good for one...

General Review

My parents bought the E3V2 to keep at their place for my daughter to use when visiting (which is often!). It is a nice looking buggy and we got the black and charcoal one.

This buggy has awesome pneumatic tyres which can handle all terrain. My dad has even taken our baby jogging in the E3 and he found it great to use for this purpose.

Our main buggy at home is the Urban Mountain Buggy and the E3V2 is slightly narrower than the Urban which I think is great. It would probably fit in most car boots (we have a Nissan Pulsar) and even if it didn't you can quickly and easily remove the wheels. The E3V2 also has a bumper bar which comes as standard which the Urban doesn't (though it can be purchased as an extra). Our baby likes holding onto the bumper when ridiing along.

The seat reclines to completely flat which we found great when our baby was newborn. The upright position is also very upright so our baby had a good view when being pushed around. There are mesh panels in the side of the seat which provide good ventilation. There is also a generous sun canopy. I don't think the fabric is quite as hard wearing as the fabric used on Mountain Buggies and some of my friends's with the E3 already have small tears/wear spots in the fabric of their buggyies.

We found the harness on the E3V2 very hard to use, particularly when our baby was newborn. It is huge! It does however have padded straps which make it more comfy for your baby. Changing the recline position with clips and zips is also a real pain and near on impossible when your baby is actually in the buggy.

Although I am not fussed on this stroller for one baby I think it will really be great when we have baby number 2. It is a really cool double solution and I think Phil and Teds are quite innovative in their design.

Pros

*Great options for 2 babies/toddlers
*Attractive looking buggy
*Hard wearing pneumatic tyres
*Reclines to flat for newborns
*Bumper bar
*Easy to fold and use

Cons

*Fiddly seat recline
*Have to purchase accessories such as storm/sun covers seperately which can end up quite costly
*Harness difficult to use

Great for two children

Reviewed by: Rachel Mills from Canberra, Sep 16, 2005

General Review

I brought this pram after my children had grown too big for the Shuttle with toddler seat that we did have.
This is a great pram for two as it is very easy to push and both children can have a sleep and the older child cannot annoy the younger one (in my old pram with the toddler seat, the toddler was able to reach the baby).
My older child prefers to sit in the lower seat (think that it is recommended to have them the other way) as that way she can get in and out as she wants.
Well made and I have heard that the after sales service from this company is fantastic.

Pros

Lightweight, easy to fold and folds up very compact.
Ability to change from a one to a two seater very easily.
Very well made and easy care fabric

Cons

Very little storage, and it is almost impossible to access when there is a child in the second seat.
Straps are a hassle to do up.
Backrest is a real pain and after attempting to change a few times, now I dont bother.

Great pram for 2 kids.

Reviewed by: Fiona from Adelaide, Jul 31, 2005

General Review

I bought this pram before the birth of my second son. I previously had a Mountain Buggy Urban and loved that pram but as it did not take a toddler seat I was forced to go looking for a new pram.

I must say that in singles mode the E3 cannnot compete with the Mountain Buggy. It doesn't steer anywhere as well and the backrest is so irritating to adjust.

In doubles mode however this pram has really been great. My second son is very happy to sit in the rear seat and my first son is pleased to keep his position up front. I'm pleased that they're out of each others way while we're walking at least!

The rain and sun covers do a great job of protecting both kids from the elements and the storage, whilst limited, is adequate with the pannier bags attached.

I am definately pleased I bought this pram .

Pros

Both kids have a seat they can sleep in.
Both kids are covered in wet weather.
Kids can't annoy each other!
Handles reasonably well considering the weight it's carrying.

Cons

Back rest is very hard to adjust.
Harness on main seat is way too big and annoying to do up.
Doesn't handle as well as the Mountain Buggy Urban in singles mode.
