EXCELLENT EXCELLENT EXCELLENT - Love the SKATE

SKATE v BUGABOO?
We originally ordered the Bugaboo Chameleon but were a bit concerned about the small size of the underneath basket and also how low down to the ground the basket was. We found out about the Skate and compared them side by side and the shop even let us gave a go at folding them up and putting them in the car. We chose the SKATE pretty easily over the bugaboo for a number of reasons:
1. Ease of supply/repair - we had heard so many stories (including from the retailers) about problems with Bugaboo supply and repairs. Even though the Skate's had just been released in Australia and were in limited supply, we didn't have any problems getting the pram and in the colours we had chosen.
2. Design and functionality. An absolute winner in both! We liked the height adjustable handle of the bugaboo, but the skate goes so much further with the bassinet or seat being adjustable to 3 heights, as well as the handle being height adjustable. This makes the pram perfectly easy to use for both myself and hubby (who is a good foot 4 inches taller than me )- no back strain when attending to the baby. Something I hadn't thought of until comparing the bugaboo and skate side by side.
This week we purchased the per perego viaggio baby capsule which can be used with the skate pram base. We already had a capsule (the peg perego capsules weren't approved for australian standards when we originally bought the Skate), but I LOVE my skate so much that it was a no brainer to invest in the capsule. Bubs can happily be transported from home to car to shopping etc all undisturbed.
The Skate is just sooooo easy to manouvre and lightweight to use. Beautiful big hood to give bubs privacy/sunshade when needed. Nice and sturdy and bubs is really safe. Beautiful roomy bassinet. The luggage net might seem a bit odd looking, I am a shopaholic and have found it t be fabulous! You can either load your items directly into the net, or load up your shopping bags and place them on the net. Folds beautifully in one seamless motion.
3. Great Looks - fabulous colours.

We just LOVE our SKATE. We have met so many people who haven't been happy with their prams a few months down the track from purchasing them. Bubs is now nearly 4 months old, and we couldn't be happier with the Skate!

Pros

-height adjustable position of the baby
-height and angle adjustable handle, good handle height
-luggage net holds heaps of shopping etc
- easy to manouvre, pram is so lightweight when being used
=so easy to fold and unfold - choice of collapsing in one piece or two.
-bassinet converts to stroller, so no need to store separate stroller seat attachments
- great size bassinet. Bubs can sleep in comfort
- foot muff included- provides privacy/shelter/warmth for bubs
-compatible with peg perego viaggio baby capsule, and comes with car seat adaptors included
-funky and fabulous looks
-great design overall, includes cupholder and raincover

Cons

-It is heavier than some other prams on the market and I did find this difficult at first (I had a c/s) BUT as the pram can be folded down all in one, or take the bassinet/stroller attachment off separately, the pram is a lot lighter when folded in this way. I must admit though, it is so easy and quick to put into the car, I tend to fold it down all in one piece.
-no UV sunshade included. Bonnet is nice and large and provides great sun protection, but UV sunshade would be a great inclusion for extra sun safety!
- no mosquito net included

Excellent Stroller!!!!

Reviewed by: Malishka31 from Brooklyn New York USA, Sep 05, 2008

General Review

This stroller has everything. Originally when I purchased it I did not like it as much but when my baby was finally born and I actually got outside with the stroller it was hands down the best investment we ever could have made. I spend 5 months of my pregnancy researching strollers, and what sold my husband and I on the Skate was the simple fact that the manuvarability of this stroller is UNMATCHED by any other stroller we looked into- including the Bugaboo. There is a variety of Pros to this stroller, I will list all the ones I can think of.

Pros

* Lovely Bassinet
* ONE PIECE fold (HUGE HUGE THING for me)
* Easy to remove wheels and make compact
* Heavy Duty Stroller/ Solid Metal Frame
* Highly Adjustable in all ways
* Height Adjustable (BIG DEAL to me as I wanted an Xplory Originally but did not favor the fold of it or overall design just the height) This is one of the few strollers with a height adjustable seats and it Makes a huge difference
* Front/Back facing option of seat
* Bassinet and Seat is ONE IN THE SAME!!!! Big deal again- living in NYC one does not have tons of space to store extra stroller parts.
* The frame is very very beautiful .
* Excellent and easy intergration with the Peg Perego Primo Viaggio SIP 30/30 Car seat
* Comes with Cup Holder AND Car seat adapters
* Handlebar adjusts both by being pulled out and by being able to be at different angles- including down so that another child can reach and push the stroller
* EXTREMELY EASY TO PUSH- even with one hand and tons of groceries on the bottom.... it never skips a beat
* The net DOES hold a lot of things and is not as inconvieniet as it looks
* The sun shade is LARGE and covers the baby very well - Comes with Raincover but no mosquito net
* EASY EASY fold- Step on fold button, pull triggers as you push down- done! (this is for the chassis once the seat is in position)
* ROOMY ROOMY Bassinet
* Can Hold a child up to 45 pounds- so this stroller with LAST
* Has fully adjustable and removable handle bar (I find these annoying so i am glad I have the option to fully remove it)
* Comes with HUGE TIRES that are fully removable and Tire Pump- Front tires can be locked in place if needed

Cons

Cons:
* not going to lie - it is heavy but it is not large in the wheel base- i get around the Brooklyn stores easily.
* Not a travel stroller- so do not expect easy intergration with subway / bus travel. This is great for people who walk around a lot or go by car in the suburbs
* The cup holder extends a bit beyond the wheel base which can be annoying as it gets hit on the side of walls when you go through a tight space or out of an elevator (small elevator)
* The Net on the bottom is great but it could be better if it was a huge flat metal surface of some kind- but this is more a of a neutral as the net does hold a lot of stuff and holds the stuff well.

Overall from all my research and stroller looking I can honestly say I made the best decision. This is the most useful item we purchased and the baby even sleeps in it most nights. The manuvarability is to die for- even on old Brooklyn sidewalks- it moves like a knife through butter.

It is a Peg- and they have been around for a long time which was a plus for me.

There is a lack of optional accesories because this stroller is new but I am sure that will change over time.... Not that there is really anything I would urgently want for this stroller to have as everything is included.

In regards to the biggest con of weight- you have to consider what you will use this stroller for- I rarely if ever actually lift the stroller because I mainly walk with it, and when i have to put it in the car it is not a big deal at all for me. I find no difference in lifting 25 pounds to the 32 that the Skate weights. Plus the extra benefits and sturdy frame are worth the extra weight imho.

WAY TOO BIG AND HEAVY!

Reviewed by: jaqueline from california, Aug 11, 2008

General Review

This would be a great stroller if you don't have to take it in and out of the trunk of you car 4 times a day. I love peg perego and I was so excited when they came out with "The Bugaboo Killer", but now I know what they meant by that, because there's about a 10 lbs. difference between the two. Overall I like this stroller, but for the price I should be loving it. Peg perego should have considered the weight and storage. Trust me, you will hate having to take it in and out of your car and it's so embarassing when your stuff falls out of so called underseat storage.

Pros

good features good looking that's all

Cons

no storage and what ever you strap under seat can fall out.
WAY TOO BIG & HEAVY.

Skate nothing like Bugaboo, very worth the price.

General Review

Excellent stroller, despite the price tag, it's worth it. We're the first couple to own one in the state of Wisconsin and couldn't be happier. From stroller to pram to seat to flexibility this is it. This was so new the faculty at the retailer didn't know how to use it, so we showed them just by figuring it out. A stroller of this calibur is groundbreaking in the market and is worth every penny. Unlike the bugaboo, it won't collapse if you hop a curb wrong or roll into a street grate. Design is perfect from mechanical thought to safety. It's user friendly, once you get to know it. The skate taught us right off the bat that if it wasn't designed to do something, it won't let you do it, making it safer for all. It breaks down in a matter of 6 seconds, took me anyway. Fabrics are outstanding and colorful. These were chosen carefully and you can tell. When you get down to brass tacks feature-wise, this blows the market away and will for quite awhile. Excellent design, appealing to the eye. Literally form mixed with funtion. If you have your doubts, go and play with one until you've learned all it can do for you. You'll change your mind without further persuasion from me. Bearings are the best you can get, tires are excellent, tire pump included. A word to the wise, do as we did and install tire slime in the rear larger pneumatic tires, in case by chance you spring a leak, this will take care of it allowing you to get home, then take care of it, rather than stranding you and having a LOT of things to carry, inclusive of baby. This is coming from a 15 year firefighter/emt and a master mechanic. If you're hemming and hawwing, and have the budget, just get it, you'll be happy that you did.

Pros

Way too many to list but here goes. Lightweight, flexibility of position, tires and wheels, stands when collapsed. Also rolls like a carry on piece of luggage when collapsed. Car seat (Primo Viaggio 30/30, yes we own one) drops right in, adapters included. Color is intense. Included rain bonnet is a nice touch.

Cons

No snack tray, they'll probably offer one if demand is high enough. Storage under infant isn't all that great, but we bought a red Eastpack backpack and it works just fine.
