Lightweight, good for <2yr old

Reviewed by: Anonymous user, Sep 29, 2010

General Review

This pram has been a solid performer for us, and we have taken it on planes, orienteering, for long walks etc. It does have some frustrating points, and was more expensive than average at the time, but given the day to day kms we'll used it, it makes it very decent value regardless.

Pros

Lightweight aluminium, comfy for babe, quick release wheels for car carrying, adjustable foam handle for tallparents, great sixed grocery basket under it.Bike shop commented on top quality pneumatic wheels when we replaced a tube earlier this yr

Cons

zip for rainshield broke quite early on, as did the bar that sits across front of baby-this was never easy to adjust and we had to be careful, push handle also tricky to adjust but do-able once you know how, sticky foot brake when releasing it-need to plan ahead, when child gets taller eg above 90cm then feet start to really dangle over side of foot plate-safety issue

Great Pram!

Reviewed by: Kim from Melbourne, May 30, 2010

General Review

I purchased this pram after having owned 3 other '3 Wheelers' over the years. This is the best by FAR! It is super easy to maneuver and very lightweight - great after having a bub! Comes with fantastic custom fit storm and shade covers - it is everything I wanted in a pram!

Pros

Lightweight
Adjustable handle - good for mums and dads
Custom fit storm/shade covers
Cozy Boot cover
Large Storage basket
Super easy to steer

Cons

A bit tricky to fold...need 2 hands, gets easier the more practice you have

Not recommended

Reviewed by: Rebecca from Victoria, Feb 15, 2010

General Review

Ive had problems with this pram the day i took it out of the box.
First, the side tires would come off when we would push the pram, we took it back to the store we bought it from they supposedly sent it out to get repaired took 2 weeks and as the store person was pushing it out when we went to pick it up, the tires were coming off again. So the store person gave us a new pram. After a few days we noticed that the tires would go flat very easily so we just got fed up with taking it back and forth so we ended up buying another pram.

Pros

*Easy to push when going for walks

Cons

*Too big for small shops with small isles
*Too big for the boot of a small car
*Front bar pushes down very easily, and also comes off with the slightest pull
*Takes too long to fold
*Not worth what you pay.

More trouble than it is worth

Reviewed by: Katey from Victoria, Feb 10, 2010

General Review

This was/is out first pram and we bought it because it was light, had inflatable tyres and was affordable. I wanted an MB but hubby disagreed. Oh I wish I'd just gone out and bought the MB and fibbed about the price tag :o(

Pros

-Light weight
-Mine came with all the optional extras unlike the MB
- Folds low in the car boot

Cons

Too numerous to list:
- Brake jams (is dangerous on travelators)
- Handle gets stuck either in fixed position or will not lock into place.
- Foam cover of handle was split when we bought it
- Bumper bar is easily knocked down my bub's feet
- Rain cover only covers bub not the pram and water can leak in through the sun roof.
- Back pocket fell off in the middle of crossing a road (broken zip)
- Front wheel is terribly unstable (jolts bub around) not just as faster pace but at normal walking pace.
- Wide. Needs wheels taken off to fit in the boot of a normal car
- Long. Takes up all the boot space
- Lock that holds folded pram together usually comes undone
- No where to hang toys for a little baby to look at especially if you fit the insect cover or rain cover
- Zips to adjust the sitting angle are cumbersome.
- Back pocket is small
- Wrists strap is too short (I replaced mine)
- No foot rest so an older/longer child could potentially dangle their feet into the front wheel

Not Bad

Reviewed by: Kristy from Australia, Jan 22, 2010

General Review

We purchased this one for it's large wheels and light weight, making it ideal for walking with. It has fulfilled it's purpose in that respect, except for the bad wobble in the front wheel when walking at a faster pace. The wobble stops when we lock the wheel in position, which means you have to lean on it and lift up the front wheel to turn corners- which is really not ideal! For use as a general pram it is not very handy, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, though I must say my babies were happy in it.

Pros

*Lightweight- easy to push and easy to lift into the car
*wheels easily click off to fit into the car
*wider wheel base for balance
*my toddler loved to ride on the front foot rest, and his extra weight did help to stabilise the front wheel

Cons

*too wide to fit through checkouts
*wobbly front wheel
*break tends to stick on one side
*takes up a lot of room in the car
*not our best buy!

Not the best pram on the market

Reviewed by: Anonymous user, Jan 05, 2010

General Review

I've had this pram for nearly 3yrs now and i really wish i had of bought something else. Within the first couple of months i had to send it back as the front wheel wobbled alot, and within the first year the pram lining ripped, as it kept getting caught up when pram was folded. I too have also experienced punctures and the foam handle tearing, along with the zippers to recline the pram a real pain and breaking. The bassinette option was good, however it's massive! No support for new born and baby tends to slide right down to the bottom of pram when you tilt it to go up step. (Cant put baby at bottom of pram to start with as cover comes up way to high and covers face).
Also pram seems to have a tendency to tip backwards when you have a nappy bag on the back and not much wait in the front.

Pros

light weight, easy to push

Cons

Bassinette is massive, pram too wide for most shops and supermarkets, poor quality manufacturing, doesn't last for years even when looked after, need a big car

OK

Reviewed by: Mel from Sydney, Dec 07, 2009

General Review

We bought this pram for the birth of our second child. We needed a toddler seat attachment and this seemed the most reasonably priced. I wish that we'd spent the extra money and bought a Phil and Teds. This pram was OK but....it's bulky in the boot - we managed to fit it into the boot of a sedan with a fair amount of grunting and wiggling (very ladylike!!) but you couldn't get anything else in there with it.

The toddler seat was fine for the first couple of months but then the bottom of it started to tear along the seam - and it wasn't becasue my toddler was heavy - he would have been lucky to weigh 13 kgs when he was 3. However the good thing about the seat was that you caould leave it on when the pram was folded. I also liked that it was quite stable as it was positioned over the centre of the pram rather than out over the front wheel. This means it's less likely to topple over if just the toddler is in the pram. I also liked that the toddler seat had a 5 point safety harness.

The pram was easy to manouvere up until the front wheel went weird. It now vibrates and wobbles continually unless you lock the front wheel in position. It's also quite wide which makes getting in and around shops pretty difficult. There's been times when I've just not even bothered going into a shop because of the headache of getting around with it.

Luckily my kids no longer need this pram but I would probably not recommend it to anyone else.

Pros

* Toddler seat can remain attached when folded
* Comfortable ride due to the width
* well priced
* Comes with rain cover, sunshade and boot cover.

Cons

* Toddler seat ripped after a couple of months
* Front wheel wobbles badly unless wheel is locked
* Bulky - difficult to get in and out of boot - takes up too much room
* Too wide for many shops

FANTASTIC!

Reviewed by: Anonymous user, Dec 01, 2009

General Review

This pram is fantastic... for the price in comparison for the rest of the market, this is SUCH a bargain!

Pros

light weight
easily collapses (2 steps)
easy to push around
can lock the front wheel or have it turning easily
basinette & toddler seat friendly
comes with rain cover, shade cover, etc

Cons

I know a few people with these, at my reccommendation...
cons from us all...
*tearing in handle (small)
*bar (at their feet level) goes down too easily, they can't lean on it
* if you don't pump the tyres up now and then it's luggish to push

Love it

Reviewed by: Mel from Melbourne, Sep 08, 2009

General Review

My bubba is just over 8 months old and i love this pram. We considered a MB but couldn't justify the price comparison and were able to get the bassinet, boot cover, sun/rain covers included for a great price. My little man loves his pram and finds it super comfy.

Pros

The bassinet was fantastic for the first 3 months and was great to take off the pram and use for sleeping when visiting people. The pram is easy to move and is pretty light for lifting in and out of the car. I have never had any problems with wheels as mentioned by some people.

Cons

Can't think of any, I am really happy with it overall.

Awful pram,would NEVER recommend it

General Review

Being a first time mum,i dint know what to buy n simply bought this pram for the reason that i use public transport a lot n this pram has suspension wheels. But I have been repenting ever since for wasting a good amount of $400 for nothing.

Pros

Light weight..just 10kgs.
Has a bassinet/toddler seat option.
Steers easily even with a lot of weight.

Cons

Too many to list..
1.The handle bar comes down with the slightest pressure, due to which my older child fell off the pram n hurt himself badly.
2.The pram is too big to fit a newborn baby safely,so we had to buy a bassinet separately costing us $100 more.
3.the recline mechanism uses zippers which is stupid.
4.too many steps to fold the pram which is irritating when ur baby is sleeping
5.MOST AWFUL is that the wheels of the pram go down with a puncture almost every month, costing me $25 to replace them with a thorn-proof tyre, which goes down again.I suppose something wrong with the design of the pram.
All in all..i have spent about $600 for a pram that cost me $400,wouldnt recommmend this pram to anyone at all.

Not that happy.

General Review

Being a new mum i didn't know what was a good functional pram, i did know i wanted a 3 wheeler with pump up wheels and that could recline for bub to sleep in while we were out and about. Which this pram had but there were too many things that over a 6 month period really annoyed me.
If i had my time again i would not buy this pram.

Pros

Looks good
Reasonably light weight
Easy to push/all terrain
Great suspension

Cons

Zippers on the side to recline are stupid broke in the first 6 months.
Too many steps to put down and you end up with your bum sticking out for everyone in the carpark to see when you bend over to put it down.
When pushing the pram pulls to the left possibly from the front wheel.
Basket at the bottom of the pram is too small to fit anything except a few toys in.
Material is easily marked and is hard to get stains out.
My newborn looked so tiny in this pram thought he might fall out, bassinett would have been a good idea at the age.
Takes up heaps of room in the boot of our station wagon.
Wheels are too wide, only fits through the disabled aisle at the supermarket (there is only one disabled aisle at our local supermarket)

Great 3 wheeler

Reviewed by: Bek from Australia, Apr 19, 2008

General Review

This is a great 3 wheeler pram. It is light weight and yet can hold a 20kgs child without an issue.

The weight of the child doesn't impact to much on the extra weight of the pram. still light.

The bassinett attachment is great for newborn babies as it allows you to use this as a bed for when out. it also allows you to know that the child is safe in the bassinett

Pros

Light weight
takes 20kgs
has great attachemnts

Cons

none that i know of

I love this pram!

General Review

I was tossing up between the Steelcraft Transition and the Mountain Buggy. I'm so glad I settled on this one. For less than half the price of a MB, I can easily get anywhere. It lays back really well and I don't need to take a portacot anywhere because my baby sleeps cosily in this pram. Sure it's a little squeezy in the car...but with the money I saved choosing this pram, I was able to buy a McLaren Quest stroller for those times where we need the boot space - and I still had money left over!

Pros

Very lightweight
Folds longways - can lift into wagon boot in 2 stages to save my back
modern colours
very easy to manouevre
bassinet and lay back feature make it a portable bed - as long as I have my pram, I can go anywhere with my baby!
much more affordable than it's comparisons

Cons

Difficult to fit into some cars - make sure you test it in the boot before buying

Great Pram

Reviewed by: Elise from Western Australia, Oct 19, 2007

General Review

OK I have to confess for the first 3 month I used this pram there was a huge gap at the back of the pram due to the material not meeting at the back. Once life became a bit less hectic I realised I just needed to put the hood part down further not at the position left for it. Now I love it!! I do find it a bit large for checkouts but because I have an older child too that sits in seat on the front it needs a wide wheel span for safety.

Pros

Nice and wide for baby of larger toddler. Great storage.

Cons

Wide wheel span
Really long when folded up. Takes up heaps of space in the car.

I wouldn't reccommend this pram

General Review

Being a first time mum I went into the store not knowing what I was looking for so I got what I thought was the best looking. I bouught the bassinet to go with the pram and this was good once you got it set up - it took a long time. Withing the first 2 weeks of having it all tyres went flat and we had to fill them with tyre gel. It is far to wide to ake shopping anyone who is thinking about getting a pram look for one that has wheel that are close together and will firt through a checkout. There is also to many steps to fold it up and the zip up recline feature is absolutley rediculous - I would not recommend it for any new mums - althogh when used for waling it is great to push and is a comfy ride for my bub. Need to purchase a stroller as it is to big for the boot and too widefor around the shops.

Pros

Looks good
drives well
comes with alot of accessories

Cons

wheel base is too wide
recline feature is stupid
not easy to fold down
too big when folded

Lightweight and nice looking

General Review

Well, hubby and I were tossing up over the MBU elite and the Steelcraft Transition
No contest in my opinion, but as usual, hubby decided due to $$$
This pram is nice looking, and a comfy ride.
Mine has had a dodgy front wheel that pulls to the left and drives me mad.
It is also too wide to go down most aisles, and I end up leaving shops in a huff.
Might sell mine

Pros

Lightweight - 10kgs
Nice looking material and colours
Good amount of storage
Comfy for new born, has head supports etc

Cons

Pain in bum to fold, you have to do too many steps, and I end up showing the world my bum crack as it doesnt have a 'lady like' folding mechanism
Big for most boots
I find the material marks easily
Recline features zip up... annoying to say the least

Bulky in the boot

Reviewed by: Anonymous user from Tasmania, May 11, 2007

General Review

I have been using the Transition since Oct 06. This is a great pram; light, easy to use, wide seat for bub, all the bells and whistles as part of the deal. In saying this, I have had to purchase a stroller for the car as the Transition takes up ALL the boot space if you're not willing to remove wheels, sunshade, etc (and we have a wagon!). Overall however I know that my bub has a comfy ride in the Transition and I have an easy pram to drive.

Pros

Lightweight - good neutral colours & is water resistant - comes with shade/rain cover, foot muff & pump - nice wide seat for a comfy and spacious ride for bub - very very easy to drive.

Cons

VERY VERY bulky in the boot.

FANTASTIC LOOKING PRAM

I LOVE THE TRANSITION PRAM, ESPECIALLY WITH THE OPTION OF BUYING THE BASSINET THAT GOES WITH IT, MAKES SLEEP TIME FOR BABY MUCH MORE COMFY. PRICED WELL FOR THE FEATURES IT HAS....EVEN COMES WITH FUNKY LOOKING SUSPENSION FOR OFF ROAD!!!

Pros

GREAT DESIGN, GREAT COLOUR, EASY TO ASSEMBLE (IF YOU CHOOSE TO BUY THE BASSINET, YOU NEED TO TAKE OFF THE ACTUAL PRAM AND THEN REASEMBLE IT WHEN BABY GETS TOO BIG FOR THE BASSINET) EASY TO FOLD, YOU CAN ACCESS THE STORAGE BELOW WITH NO HASSLE EVEN WHEN THE PRAM IS FULLY RECLINED.

Cons

A BIT ON THE HEAVY SIDE AND A BIT OF A PAIN FITTING IT IN SOME CAR BOOTS. ONE OF THE BACK TYRES TENDS TO GO FLAT EASY.

General Review

I'm not due until October, so I haven't been able to "testrun" the Steelcraft Transition yet. BUT - the front bumper/arm rest doesn't seem right to me. It folds down with very little pressure; it has buttons on the side that need to be depressed before it should fold down. I've taken it back to where I purchased it, and they tell me that Steelcraft has replaced it. It is still folding without the need to depress the buttons! I don't know if its a specific problem with the pram I have, or if it a design fault. If Steelcraft is not able to fix it, I will be replacing it with another brand.

Pros

Looks great! Lightweight! Folds easily! Well priced! All the features we wanted. But ...

Cons

Potential saftey issue ... ? Front bumper/arm bar folds without depressing the release buttons (not sure if a design fault or a problem specifically to the pram I have).
