Downtown Down and Out

Reviewed by: John from WA, Oct 16, 2007

General Review

A piece of junk on four wheels. Problems started after warranty ran out and only after limited use. I now have to pay for repairs and company was very unhelpful. What's this thing going to look like in another twelve months time. At this rate we will have to buy another pram for every child we have.

Pros

So far my child has not been injured.

Cons

Made in China. Steelcraft, the name is a joke as far as we are concerned. Where is the steel and certainly no craft used in the building of it. I'm sure I almost had a heart attack out of frustration with this thing. sorry I bought it.

Stroller

Reviewed by: Kate from QLD, Jul 26, 2007

General Review

I purchased this stroller after alot of advice from mum's about make sure the wheels where not to big. So when shopping you can go anywhere. Within the first month of purchase (my new baby being about 1 month old) it had to go into to be repaired as when I went to use it after a shopping trip. I took it out of the boot of my car to go for a walk outside, the hole back section ( being metal) bent in half and another bit completely broke of, it had to be sent for repairs. I assumed with the server damage attained which to this day is unknown how it actually happened that they would replace the whole pram with a new one. One would think... After getting the pram back 3 months later it has never been right the brakes are faulty and fail sometimes. The hole frame is now unstable and kind of rikity.
What a shame great concept, just not quite right!

Pros

Compact including many features
Great wheel size
Attractive

Cons

poorly made
under storage useless
unsafe brakes

Looks aren't everything!

General Review

I bough this pram after doing quite a bit of looking around, but am extremely disappointed. The "european" look wheels are useless when going over the smallest bump. They hit the bump and stop, so my son goes flying forward in the seatbelt. The cloth also gets jammed when unfolding the pram. And one of the brakes broke as well.
I will not be buying anything else from Steelcraft and absolutely do not recommend this brand.

Pros

Looks good

Cons

Crap design

General Review

I bought this stroller thinking it would be great, it cost over $300! It had all the features I wanted but unfortunately after only having it for 7 months I am in the process of getting a refund as I have had nothing but problems with it.
Firstly during the first couple of weeks i had it the brakes both broke while I was lowering it down a gutter, they still work but just flap around and sometimes they drop down whick makes the stroller slow down.
Then within a month or so the velcro tabs which wrap around the frame on the sides both started pulling away and the insides have started to come out. These tabs don't seem to be pictured in any photos I have seen of this stroller but if they weren't there the seat would sink.
Then last week while shopping with my not quite 2 year old in the stroller her feet began to drag on the ground, somehow the seat had let go from the frame and she could basically stand up while still strapped in.
I am not impressed with this stroller and it's faults, It is a great design but has lots of teething problems.

Pros

Looks great.
Had storage pocket on back of hood.
Good size viewing window.
Love the European look wheels.
Luxury design.

Cons

Falls Apart!!!
