I love my MB!
Reviewed by: golux from Sydney, NSW, Feb 13, 2007General Review
I have the 2006 Urban Elite with bassinette attachment. I believe the main differences between the Urban and the Urban Elite is the adjustable handlebar and the suspension (and the extras - nappy bag and fleece liner). It's not a cheap pram, but for me it has been a very good value pram.I don't drive and therefore walk and catch public transport a lot and love this pram. It's obviously too big to take on the bus (esp considering the two handed fold mechanism) but it's great for walking - it's fine over seriously cracked up footpaths, gravel etc. It's also beautifully designed, somehow sleek and chunky without breakable gadgets. I love the idea that wherever a simple solution is possible the MB people have tried to use it. I have friends who have other prams, including 3-wheelers who have pram envy.
Because I find criticism useful when I'm making decisions I'll try and focus there.- The only two things I would change about this pram (apart from having it fold up small enough to fit in my pocket or be able to carry me so I can sleep while the baby pushes!) would be the profile of the rear wheel nuts (those extra few cms can be important in crowded shops!) and having something on the handlebars to stop the nappy bag sliding down and crunching open the hood.
So, if you plan to do a lot of walking and don't mind the size the MB Urban might be the pram for you. I have spent almost 8 months in love with it and have only now purchased a small light umbrella stroller (Maclaren Quest Sport, if you must know!) because my bub is too heavy to use a sling or pouch if I need to catch a bus.
Pros
Sturdy - fine on gravel and I can't imagine a kid being able to tip this thingEasy to steer - even ok one handed while I talk on the phone
Safe - well designed and made, and the child is protected because of the size of the pram
Stylish - doesn't date easily so I'll be happy using it if/when baby number two comes along
Multi layback position - I have the bassinette and used it at home but you don't really need it - the horizontal layback means it would be fine from birth
Adjustable handlebar
Comfortable for the child - partly just because of the size but also the 'Elite' has suspension
Cons
Size - it's big and wide and takes up a fair amount of boot space. If those wheel nuts at the back didn't stick out so muchTwo handed fold - this is only a problem because I live in an apartment and need to fold the pram downstairs and take the baby and shopping upstairs
