A dream to push...

Reviewed by: MrsDarcy from , May 09, 2008

General Review

This is the best twin stroller I have ever had the pleasure to push. It handles better than a lot of single strollers. Colour choice is limited, but there are plenty of P&T accessories available for it including raincover, sunshade, seat liners and pannier bags. Both seats can go from fully reclined to fully upright with positions in between. Can have more of a bassinet feel for a newborn if used with an optional P&T cocoon. Front two wheels do a great job of steering and it is always a dream to push whether it be on the pavement, on grass, on gravel or in a shopping centre. Footwell is plastic lined and easy to clean. Brake is operated by foot. Huge underseat storage basket. Fits easily through all the doorways I have tried it in,although it is too wide for some checkouts, particularly at discount department stores. All round fantastic double.

Pros

-Adjustable handle for parents
-Huge basket
-Suit newborn to large toddler
-Independent hoods/sun covers
-Padded seats
-Accessories available
-Good five point harness
-Can fold stroller with seats up or down and with the cocoon in

Cons

-Limited range of colours
-Brake is made out of a wire tube type material and is sometimes fiddly to apply- springs back down unless pushed very firmly up to try and take off brake
-Two hand fold, tricky to get the hang of at first
-Recline utilises clips and zippers, can be hard to adjust upwards with child in seat, always easy to put down.

Best for toddler height and width for doorways

General Review

This twin pram is well designed, but has a couple of flaws which let it down. At the time I purchased it, it was the only twin pram which accommodated my tall 2.5 yr old and still fits him well at 3.5 yrs.

The customer support where I purchased it (Babies Galore) has been excellent and I would purchase a pram there again, just for the support. The pram has been back to the manufacturer 2 or 3 times in 12 months to repair a broken press stud on the frame where the hood attached, repair the opening and closing mechanism, and to repair the hood which had a metal hoop come out of the side and threaten to poke someone short (ie my toddler!) in the eye. I was happy with the repairs in both cases. A third occurrence was the sagging of the foot well onto the front wheel on the side my 2 yr old sat. Obviously this makes progress difficult. The store replaced the foot well when I mentioned this, under warranty, without me actually asking! Needless to say I was very happy about this.

This twin pram fits through most doors I encounter. I need to use the pram aisle in some supermarkets with narrow checkouts. It is very easy to manoevre, so I don't have any problems getting around shops.

The harnesses are easy to use and adjust for different sized children.

I use the pram with an 11 kg 1 yr old and a 21 kg 3 yr old. I don't notice the difference in weight distribution. I have to wear the wrist strap all the time because the pram is so easy to push on level ground, it could get away from me.

The handle is easy to adjust, and also to fold out of the way when parking the pram, to make it shorter, so the handle doesn't stick out in a cafe for example.

The seat adjustment is by clips and a zipper. I don't use the zipper, preferring to unclip the clips (one or both) depending on how much recline I want. The seats adjust independently. Both my boys sleep in it easily because it is quite roomy and flat.

You can purchase a rain cover and sun shade to go with it. I had a press stud fail on the sun shade, and this was replaced.

The handle is wide and you need to keep this in mind when choosing a nappy bag to use with the pram. I have two which have adjustable straps long enough to put over the handle. I often have my 3 yr old walk and fill the second side of the pram with shopping.

This pram has two steerable tyres at the front which gives it very good stability. It is easy to jog with (actually I find it easier to jog with it than without! but I am a bad jogger).

There is a parcel tray underneath which fits jumpers and extra bits well. It is a squeeze to fit a bag in this tray. However the tray is double, so it fits lots of extra bits. The tray can't really be accessed when the seat is reclined.

The wheels are recessed which makes it easy for a 3 yr old to walk beside without tripping on the wheels. Most single 3 wheelers have this problem. Also, the recessed wheels don't get stuck on other prams or bits of shops.

I have a Tarago vehicle, so I find it easy to line the pram up with the handle facing the back tailgate and simply release the pram and lift in a scissor motion to stand against the back seat. The pram is heavy to lift if you have to do it without 'scissoring'. 16.5 kg.

Pros

-tall seat room for 3 year old children
-easy to push and steer
-very stable
-recessed wheels you don't trip over
-not much wider than the single
-fits through most doors

Cons

-mine has needed several repairs
-seat recline uses clips and zippers
-heavy to lift into car if you can't scissor it

Suits my needs

Reviewed by: Laney from New Zealand, Sep 03, 2007

General Review

I read the first review here just after purchasing my buggy, and a bit of quick research revealed that there was a batch of this model recalled for that exact handlebar fault. Thankfully mine is fine!
I purchased this as a walking buggy for my tall 2 1/2 yr old and my newborn. I specifically wanted a side-by-side, and needed a pram that had a roomy head-height for my toddler. This pram has been perfect for my needs, my toddler fits really comfortably with plenty of headspace (her head brushes the hood on a mountain buggy, which had been my first choice), and my newborn can lie completely flat. It has all the features that made the original single model so popular, and is still easy to push, and as light as many single prams! I do find it a bit awkward to lift into my car, due to a combination of width and weight, but I'm willing to put up with that because it suits my needs in every other way.
I have been using it for several months now, and am really happy with it.

Pros

-Light for a double
-Comfortable ride for baby and toddler
-Seperate hoods (a necessity!)
-Great seat/hood height for taller children
-beautiful, smooth ride
-adjustable handlebar
-stylish looking

Cons

-the width and weight together make it a bit awkward to lift
-still quite large and bulky when folded

Beware - double stroller

Reviewed by: Claire from Australia, Apr 18, 2007

General Review

My neighbour's twins have just spent the day in hospital having had the Phil and Teds e3 handle snap off in Mum's hands, sending her twins plunging down concrete stairs - landing at the bottom with a stroller on top of them. The 16 month olds escaped with cuts and bruises and a traumatised Mum, but could have been a far more tragic outcome. Buyer beware!!
