Great all rounder - comfy, easy to use, sturdy

General Review

We have a new Explorer (2011 model) and love it. It replaces a 'luxury' pram that we originally had, in which the frame broke. Initially, I wasn't sure if Phil and Ted's would be for us, but my husband insisted that we get a replacement pram that can do a second child in the future (our baby is now 15 months). And, I am pleasantly surprised and love this pram.

It is easy to push, seems light (even with my niece on board too), has a good size main seat and toddler seat is quite tall, has a huge shopping basket, great sun and rain covers... and the list goes on.

Pros

Good size - fits through doors, in cafes etc.
Light but still sturdy - can lift easily up and down stairs.
Comfy main seat - long and great recline mechanism (easy to do and can choose exact angle).
Sturdy and comfy toddler seat with hood.
Easy to use brake.
Great hood that can follow the sun - and easy to use sun and rain covers.

Cons

More difficult to fold than our old pram - but we were spoilt as it was a push button fold!
When using the toddler seat, some basket space is lost, but my son was happy to stretch his legs out over the milk when we had two on board!
Sometimes, it is more difficult to steer (and both hands are needed) than a four wheeler on footpaths that have an awkard camber - but I think this is the same for all 3 wheelers.

I like it but don't LOVE it

General Review

1st time mum, had used a MountainBuggy when nannyed. So brought a MountainBuggy. Sold it as brought a new car but had a smaller boot so brought a P&T fitted perfectly. Unfortunately I dont feel it is that sturdy and when I tested it in the shop my baby was at home! BIG MISTAKE! Have sold it and gone back to MountainBuggy.

Pros

*Great sunhood
*Folds down nice and compact
*Easy system to move the straps. Grow if you have to change them often
*Great inline double buggy narrow

Cons

*Cannot steer with one hand
*NOT A ONE HAND FOLD
*Is extremly hard to get seat from full recline to upright with child in it
*Forever putting air in the tyres. Dont hold pressure well.
*Wasn't overally sturdy. Only used it in malls and going to walks around the streets. Wouldnt go off road too scared to find out how it would handle. Hard enough on grass sport feilds

A huge step up from the old P&T's

Reviewed by: Lara from Australia, Dec 13, 2010

General Review

First up - we haven't bought the pram yet but had a very long look and test run in various stores. We'll have two kids 2 years apart.
P&T was never an option for me because they felt so flimsy compared to my Mountainbuggy Urban. However, this one is a huge step up and it seems P&T have learned from their purchase of the MB brand. Great option if you don't want the width of the side by side double and it's surprisingly easy to get kids in and out of the Explorer.

Pros

Narrow for a double pram
Adjustable handle
Follow the sun hood (for those early/late walks)
Super easy to use brake (if you wear lots of flip flops like me)
Sturdy construction
Nice seat cushioning

Cons

With two toddlers, storage in the basket becomes minimal (you can get saddle bags though)
Access to toddler in lower seat or baby below not as good as in a bassinet or side by side double
