Great 'second' pram for excercising with 2 kids

Reviewed by: Anonymous user from Australia, Sep 04, 2005

General Review

I used this pram for around 12 months starting from when I had a newborn daughter and 3 year old. I already had a great single pram that I used most of the time, but I did want a pram that could seat two children as I like to walk alot for exercise. Because I was not really intending to take the pram in the car or to the shops etc I was not really restricted by size and as this pram was fairly cheap I bought it.

It is actually FANTASTIC to steer, I have owned 10 prams now and this by far has been the most manouverable and lightest to push (amazing since it weighed over 50k with my two kids in it). Each seat is nice and roomy but the back rest height is quite short, but then I have found most back heights are too short for your average 3 year old. The back rests adjust using a pull-strap type system, which is great because it means the seat can be adjusted to any angle between flat and upright. The basket is actually very big, but quite hard to get into, the opening being only about 15-20cm high.

Despite its size and weight I found that I could fit it comfortably in the boot of my Subaru Impreza hatch without hacing to remove any wheels and this was even with 2 car seat anchor straps cutting up the space in the boot.

The downsides to the pram were that it was quite wide, even for a double jogger. I also found the hood was not deep enough and was a single hood, which meant that if I pulled the hood across to shade the baby it was hard to talk to my toddler.

By the time my children were 12 months and 4 years old I found that it was beginning to pull in the direction of my 4 year old (she was almost 20kg by then), and since I was not exercising much by then I thought it was time to pass the pram on.

Overall I rate this as a good 'second' pram; one that is not intended for use all the time.

Pros

Excellent steering. Nice and roomy. Great pram for its price.

Cons

Wide (even for a side-by-side). Basket difficult to access. Not particularly good quality. Not particularly attractive.
