2005 Mountain Buggy Urban Double

3 / 5. Reviewed By Till, Northern NSW on 22nd Oct 12

General Review

Great walking pram.
I had this from my friend while I decided if I should buy one or something else.
I loved that it was side by side and surprisingly narrow for a side by side of this age.
I loved the individual baskets under and loved how easy it was to push

The Pros

narrow
side by side
individual baskets
can fit a 3rd child on the front
NON fade fabric

The Cons

SUPER heavy
Takes up alot of space folded
Didn't like how the hood worked.

The Perfect Double Pram

The Pros

Only slightly wider than the Mountain Buggy Urban Single. Fits in standard doors. Great for the supermarket. Can squeeze a third on when need be. Folds well for boot etc.

The Cons

NONE! Well except apparently they don't make them as well as this anymore as they are no longer made in New Zealand.

I've used it everyday for 3 years

The Pros

-Easy to steer
-Smooth on any type on terrain
-Kids are comfortable in it
-Can fit in the trunk of my van
-Easily pushed by one person
-Kids are side by side so they all can see what is in front of them (no one is blocking the other)
-It is an attention grabber! People love to stop and talk to you. But this can be a con as well!

The Cons

-Heavy to life
-Cannot get into door ways (so there is no way to go to a mall or into someone's house with it- but who wants to go to a mall alone with triplets?)
-Very wide - It cannot get in between cars in parking lots etc.

2008 Mountain Buggy Urban

5 / 5. Reviewed By Phil, North Coast NSW on 31st May 09

The Pros

It is so easy to push, they really got the engineering right with this. So easy to direct and with one hand too.
He said he bought it for its quality components(he is a builder). We live near the beach and it wont rust or wear out. I can really easily get on and off the tracks without struggling. A friend of mine has another brand 3 wheeler and I tried her toddler seat on and it fits perfectly. As the Urban takes a great maximum weight (35kgs)and has a wide (but not excessive) wheel base I will have no hesitation using one on it when bub nbr 2 is born soon.
So easy to fold and lightweight to put in and out of my car too!

The Cons

I cant think of any!

The Cons

possibly the only thing is that it has no front bar, only because we are used to having one more than anything,im sure we will get used to one not being there.

Absolutly Fabulous

5 / 5. Reviewed By Amie , Victoria on 30th Jul 08

The Pros

Everything, it's the most fantastic pram ever and I would always buy a Mountain Buggy. If you do alot of walking or going places with your baby it's the pram to have. Very comfy and cosy to sleep in. Excellent suspension!
It does the job and looks fantastic. If you don't just want a plain mountain buggy the urban designer is the one. I have the beroque design and it's very eye catching.

The Cons

Too heavy and quite wide so doesn't fit into all shops and the wheels can crash into things easy if you're not watching.

General Review

We bought this for our daughter who was born in December '05. I specifically bought something that would make it through the great Canadian Winters. It more than surpassed my expectations. Besides the winters it has been an amazing stroller. I HIGHLY recommend it.

The Pros

The comfortable ride. Especially going up and down stairs. My friends have a Perego and the cannot tackle the stairs even closely to the way I do.

The Cons

It's slightly to big for single escalators.
And not that I'm ready but they don't make an attachment older sibling seat.

Great stroller, now I can get out of the house

General Review

I love the Double Urban stroller. After purchasing the single for my daughter there was no option but to upgrade to the double when number 2 was born (20months between them). Although it is a little awkward to put in and out of the car the effort is well worth it.

The Pros

Both get to see whats ahead.
So easy to steer you can push with one hand.
No problems with steering even with weight differences.
Love the adjustable handle.
Basket space huge and great to have the zipper compartment for valuables.
Toddler loves to reach over and say "it's ok" when baby is crying.

The Cons

A bit awkward to lift in and out of the car (we have a sedan and it just fits) can still get shopping bags in but it is a tight fit.
Hood could be a little taller for my toddler, but she is above average for height.

Double that takes one bassinett or two!

General Review

This is the most fantastic pram!! I had my two 16 months apart so both were babies!! They both needed room to sleep. With this pram you can fit the bassinet to one side only allowing you to still have the baby facing you but the toddler able to also lay back and sleep!! It has great moverability and light weight!!

The Pros

bassinet possible for one side only
light weight
siple to use
folds very flat

The Cons

Very expensive - Cost $1250.00 with one bassinett new. (but sold for not much less)
Can't use the hood while bassinet is on
Very large when folded. You need boot room!!

One of the Best All-Terrain Strollers

2005 Mountain Buggy Urban

5 / 5. Reviewed By Gingernut, New Zealand on 6th Sep 05

General Review

We bought this pram before our daughter was born after hearing such wonderful things about it. Everyone we knew who had one loved it! We even stopped people in malls and asked them what they liked about it so after a lot of research we decided it would be right for our lifestyle.

I am not a huge jogger however we do walk fairly regularly so we needed something that could tackle, grass, gravel, sand, etc. The Urban has never let us down. Supposedly the Terrain model with the fixed wheel performs better on rougher terrain than the Urban but we have used ours on all terrain with no problems. You can either have the front wheel in swivel mode (which we do most of the time) or it can also be fixed. We have found the Urban an absolute dream to push, on virtually any terrain. It has large pneumatic wheels so it glides over everything,

We have found the quality of this pram excellent. It is very solidly built however it is still lightweight enough to pull in and out of the car easily on a regular basis. It has a very secure 5 point harness and strong canvas seat. The sun canopy has a clear viewing window which we have found really useful for checking in on bub.

The Urban is so simple to use and folds flat (but fairly broad)using 2 clips at the front to collapse it. There is a wrist strap which snaps together to hold the pram securely closed so it doesn't flip out when getting it out of the car, etc. Even the grandparents, who are flabbergasted at today's baby devices, have mastered this easily!

The seat reclines to almost flat and is suitable from newborn upwards however if you wanted a completely flat surface then you can buy the Mountain Buggy carrycot to attach. We bought this as an extra and loved it. We travel a lot and used it as a portable bed for the first few months when visiting family, on holiday, etc.

Mountain Buggy also make a lot of accessories such as sun and storm covers, sleeping bag, carseat clip, carrycot, pump, travel bag, etc which can make life easier. I have contacted Mountain Buggy on a couple of occasions regarding a couple of small parts I lost and they were very swift to send me out replacements. Excellent service.

I would recommend this stroller to anyone who needs a single buggy. It is a pity they don't do a toddler seat but if you are buying for your first baby then I would buy it and enjoy it and worry about getting a double later when number two came along.

The Pros

*Lightweight but very sturdy
*Suitable from newborn till around 4 years old
*Quality construction and fabrics
*Roomy shopping basket
*Very easy to assemble/collapse
*Very easy to push/steer
*Adjustable handle so good for tall or short people

The Cons

*Quite bulky when folded so may not fit in all cars
*No options at present for a toddler seat
*Accessories all must be purchased seperately and can end up quite costly
