What type of MCN do you have? If they have a PUL layer or inner nappisan or any of those soakers are a big no no they quickly destroy the nappy.

It sounds like you need to do a STRIP WASH this involes washing the nappies in dishwashing detergent. Sun light is the best thing to prevent MCN smells and stains.

You can use a little Napisan in wash not a problem hun :D

Just dont SOAK them in Napisan at all... A lid full in the normal wash is fine, just do an extra rinse cycle at the end :D

And yes, if that fails, do a strip wash... Put them in the machine with a SMALL amount of washing detergent and wash with HOT water, then do 2 rinse cycles with warm or cold and hang them out in the sun to dry...

Do you normally wash in warm or cold water??? I used to use warm, but had the same problem with smells, so started washing in cold and doing an extra rinse each cycle, havent had any problems since :D Also, make sure you are not using much detergent each wash cos the build up of it makes smelly nappies :D

I found that too much washing powder was causing us problems too
We have a front loader and I barely put a tablespoon in
I pre wash them and then do a quick cycle
Leave them in the sun for a bit and they are great

A little vinegar in the final rinse is a good way of stripping too..

I've always used cold water. It's important not to try & squeeze too many in the same wash - currently, even with only one toddler in nappies, I wash nappies nearly every day
I also found my AIOs smelt better once I started doing a machine rinse instead of rinsing the smellier nappies by hand. So my system is: when nappy bucket is full put everything into the machine, rinse cycle, small amount of detergent (about 1/8 cup of laundry liquid), full wash, line dry. I'm sure I was overdoing the detergent, cos when I cut back & did a thorough rinse, the difference was immediate :)

Thanks ladies... I only have 9 MCN's in my collection at the mo' so I am only using them every other day. DH refuses to buy more until we have another baby as Eloise won'tbe in Nappies much longer.
We haven't had any "SUN" around here for the last few days and won't for the next week apparently... so have washed all the nappies this arvo and put them through the drier on low. I am quite enjoying doing MCN's with Eloise, they look so cute on her little bum! I think I prefer the BBH Magicalls over the IB D'lish SIO, only cos she does such mega wees!
Whats a good night time/sleep time nappy?? ANyone have a favourite?

I use my BBH OSFM as a night nappy nad haven't had any leakage issues with them. Having said that, DS still wakes up once between 7pm and 7am so I do change him half way through.

I've not tried any of these but some popular suggestions when i asked the same question on another forum were Sandmans, Genesa Forge, Wild Child or Nic Naps.
