Long time reader/researcher here! I've finally convinced DH that we need a new pram after a disasterous first purchase. We went to test drive a few yesterday and found that it's a toss up between the MB Swift or Urban. So what are the differences between them? The Urban was slightly heavier and wider but is there anything else major I should know before making a decision? The comparison chart on the website doesn't really compare much! Is the lack of suspension in the Swift a problem? I'm not going to be jogging with it, or going over rough terrain or anything it'll be mainly a runabout I guess. Walks with mothers group, going down to the local shops etc. I have a large boot so that's not an issue either. I'm open to suggestions - are there any other brands that you would recommend. I need function over flash (well DH needs function over flash, truth be told - I'd like some flash!) and I'm quite partial to a three wheeler. It'd have to be a very special four wheeler to get me to change my mind. We tried the BJCM and it was a close second and didn't like the Quinny Zapp or Buzz or the complete range of Phil and Teds at all. I drooled a little over a Bee but DH nearly fained dead away complete with babe in arms at the price. DS is nearly six months old if that makes any difference so we don't need newborn attachments etc and he is probably going to be an only child Thanks in advance for all your help ladies!

You can't go wrong with either the swift or urban, mine is a keeper won't be going anywhere until Holly is at least 4.

The wheels on the mountain buggy's do make them a better all rounder than the BJCM or Bee. If I was only having one pram though I would struggle with the size of the MBU, admittedly I've only had it for 24 hours, but it seems like a beast compared to my other prams, especially the fold. For that reason I would consider a Swift as an only pram. Dependng on what percentile your DS is, as the seat height is much shorter so it will not last as long.
If not a MB I do love the BJCM, it is a great all rounder, all though it's weakness is off road, it only does OK on moderate footpaths.

I think the MBU or the Swift are great choices, you can't go wrong with either!

I am a HUGE MBU fan, they are awesome... Having said that, if you wont be using it for long walks or off road, the Swift is prob better for you as it is a lot more narrow, and lighter than the Urban... The other main difference between the Urban and Swift is the wheel size... The Urban wheels are bigger than the Swifts... The lack of suspension wont be a problem at all, I didnt even realise my old MBU didnt have suspension!

I've never owned an MB of any kind, but I love the look & feel of the swift, I found it quite comparable to my cameleon when I was playing a while back - the urban just felt HUGE! My youngest is 2, but he was always in the 50-75th % for height & had room to move in the swift

Thread hijack - I've decided I need a MB myself. When you girsl say the Urban is "huge" is that just compared to something small? I'm currently using a P & T Sports (don't like it) and previously had a Valco Runabout and the Urban seemed to be a similar size?
I'm wanting it for walking and I'm wondering whether suspension is essential or not...

ednaboo- I have had both the MBU, no suspension, and the MBUE with suspension, and to be honest I notice very little difference... They are both fantastic and by FAR the best walking pram... You will never regret buying a MB, they are awesome...

the MBU has a wider wheel base than a P&T, so will not fit in a normal supermarket aisle. the P&T allows for more head height atm than the MBU. If you have long torsoed children, head allowance is lower for the Swift.

Ohh - I thought I read ages ago when the Swift first came out (although my memory ain't what she used to be) that the Swift was an inch or so taller in the seat than the Urban...? I would still love a Swift when funds allow - hopefully Heath won't be too tall for it

possibly i've given birth to weird-shaped kids? but the swift was too small for C at 3 & she's 50th percentile, so I scrapped the idea for L who is a 75th percentile boy.

The urban only seemed huge to me cos of the large front swivel wheel - I'm used to the small wheels of my cameleon, that's why I felt the swift was a similar size & feel. the Urban is only slightly wider at the back than the cameleon, maybe by 2 cm, & I doubt it's much longer, but they are very different. Go with the opinions of those who've owned them & used them, I've only gotten to play in shops Having said that, I'd love a swift, they're just so cute <3
