Hi everyone, I'm new to Strollers and Prams so I hope I have posted this in the right section!!
I have a double Emmaljunga, I'm not sure on the year but I'm thinking '03 ish. It is/was navy blue but is terribly faded. And has mould spots on the hood lining.
The lining has an Anchor pattern on it.
I would like to dye the fabric so that it looks nice too :)
I would dearly love to fix this pram up for normal use but unfortunately I have no idea what to do.
I have been told that I can use EXIT MOULD to remove the mould. But then, of course, someone told me "oh no you can't have a baby anywhere near mould even if it's been cleaned".AAARRRGH!!! Does any one know what I can do

Hi and welcome :)

I have used exit mould of a few prams that have had mould spots - as long as it washed out properly and the fabric is sunned in direct sunlight for a few hours it is fine.

I have to go out now but will be back later to post the dying stuff I know

Ok I am back :)

I have never personally attempted it - someone here has and failed but I actually owned a green Emmaljunga Coronado that the previous owner had redyed so it must be possible

The only issue would be the hood, as you can see in the pic of my old one they dyed the entire hood inner lining included which meant the inside of the hood was green instead of white/cream

I think it would come down to having the appropriate dye for the material - the coronado models had a cotton material where has the newer ones have a different material which I would assume to be polyester type as its slightly shiny.

You could always contact Emmaljunga to see how much replacement fabrics are.

I have tried to dye the fabrics of an emmaljunga before but no luck unfortunately - it turned out that those fabrics were recalled by emmaljunga and I got a new set for free (found out when I went into Baby Bunting one day and they pointed it out).

Hi there,

I bought a pre-loved emmaljunga navy stroller with fading and mould on it and I successfully removed the mould with neat bleach. I stood and watched the mould dissappear and then washed and soaked immediately. I put my baby near it as mould is not good for babies but you buy milton solution to soak bottles and dummies in so figure bleach is similar.

My model was a minior classic with white inside the hood and shiny waterproof navy fabric on the outside. I tested dying on the footrest with no luck. I then bought a fabric pen from spotlight and coloured in the faded bits. It looked great. I can't remember the brand of the pen but I coloured alot of the stroller in with it and it did not run or come off.

I used it as it and loved it. Good luck. :)

I have also lifted mould successfully from 2 prams, I soak in Milton Steralizing soultion for a day, or untill the mould 'dies' (e.g. when black mould goes brown) then wash in napisan and put out in the sun.

IMHO having been steralised, soaked, washed and sun bleached I think it's safe to use.

Regarding dying I wouldn't, I would dye a plain coloured pram like Tara posted if it needed, but I wouldn't try to hide a pattern by dying it as it will likely look worse.
