Suitable for children six months to approximately eight years the new Maxi Rider AHR from Britax Safe-n-Sound gives you an easy to use car seat solution. The new design is 30mm slimmer than the existing Maxi Rider AHR, meaning it's easier to install and configure with other seats across the back of the car. The Peg Perego Pliko Switch Compact has been reviewed!
24th October, 2012, 1.34pm ESTIf there's one pram feature parents seem to ask for more than anything else, it's the ability to have their child facing them. Following close behind would be to have a pram that folds in one piece, and which doesn't weigh a tonne. Unfortunately those three features can be frustratingly hard to find in the same pram.
The Pliko Switch, however, ticks all these boxes, and as Ally found out, also has a host of other desirable features such as a super hood and large, plush seat.

Britax comment on draft of new Child Restraints Standard
17th August, 2012, 12.20pm ESTOn the 13th of August, a draft of the new Child Restraint Standard was released by Standards Australia. This revision of the current standard has been long anticipated by proponents of the Isofix system, an alternative lower attachment system for car restraints which has long been available overseas and is considered easier to install and thus likely to reduce the high incidence of incorrect installation currently seen in Australia.
The new draft does in fact include the provision for isofix compatible car restraints to be sold in Australia, however this does not mean that seats sold overseas will automatically become legal to use in Australia. Whilst the current draft allows options for both rigid (ISOFIX) and flexible (LATCH) lower anchor points, Australian car seats will continue to require an upper tether strap, and will also require the option to use the car's seatbelt as the lower attachment as is currently the case.
Other changes in the draft which advocates of improved car restraints in Australia are sure to celebrate, include the addition of an extended rear facing category, a new category for harnessed forward facing restraints for children up to 8 - 10 years of age, and the testing and defining of child restraints suitable for babies who are premature or of low birth weight.
Britax, who design and manufacturer car seats for the Australian market under the brands of Safe-n-Sound and Steelcraft, have welcomed the first draft of the new Standard and plan to release restraints compatible with the new standard once the Standard has been approved for publication, which is expected to be early in 2013.

Introducing the Steelcraft Strider Compact!
16th August, 2012, 9.46am ESTSteelcraft have just unveiled their latest product in the Strider range, the Strider Compact! Not surprisingly given the name, the main feature of this new pram is its reduced size and weight compared the Strider Plus. The width of the wheel base is now 7.5cm narrower, and the pram is 1.4kg lighter which will make a considerable difference to the manoeuvrability of this pram.
As well as the new size, the Strider Compact also has some great new features. The Strider Compact will now hold two infant carriers, one up the top, and one in the toddler seat position down below the main seat.
The main seat can also be adjusted up and down the frame to maximise the room available to the seat occupants in whichever setup the pram is being used.
The Strider Compact will retail for $799 plus $169 for the second seat. For more information visit the Strider Compact Website.

phil&teds launch the sub4
13th August, 2012, 1.13pm ESTThis isn't one to take shopping at your favourite boutique, but then that's certainly not what this machine is designed for! Whilst any pram with three wheels might be called a jogger, it is fair to say that not all three wheeled prams should be jogged with.
The long anticipated phil&teds sub4, however, is designed for peak performance when running, jogging and power walking. It features a motion control hub, with full adjustable suspension and torsion control bars which help keep the wheels grounded and thus the ride for the passenger as smooth as possible. The aerocore seat provides further shock abosorption, and the hand controlled dual disk brakes allow brilliant control and safety.
The phil&teds sub4 will retail for $1079 AUD and can be pre-ordered from the phil&teds webshop now. For more information on this high peformance machine, visit the sub4 website.
